1961-62 Shirriff/Salada Foods Hockey Coin Set (119/120) - Near Complete with Six Original Team Shields

Near-complete 1961-62 Shirriff/Salada Foods hockey coin collection featuring 119 of the 120 coins issued, presented in all six original team display shields representing the NHL's Original Six franchises.

Distributed through Shirriff and Salada food products, the series features colour player portraits on circular plastic coins, each displaying the player's name, number and team. The collection includes numerous Hockey Hall of Famers, including Gordie Howe, Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Terry Sawchuk, Jacques Plante, Johnny Bower, Frank Mahovlich and Henri Richard.

The six original Salada Foods shields feature team-specific colours, gold lettering and individual openings for 20 coins. The collection is only missing #102 Jean Beliveau, leaving one vacant position on the Montreal Canadiens shield.

An attractive and increasingly difficult-to-assemble vintage hockey collection, particularly with all six original display shields present.

Authentication
The coins and shields have not been professionally authenticated or graded. The collection contains 119 of the 120 coins in the original series, with #102 Jean Beliveau missing.

Condition
The collection exhibits varying degrees of age-related wear. The shields display surface scratches, discolouration, staining and areas of cracking or edge wear, particularly on the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens examples. The coins generally retain their colour and player images, with some showing toning and handling wear. Please refer to photographs for complete condition details.
