1927-1933 Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Club Original Shareholders Ledger - 212 Pages - Conn Smythe, J.P. Bickell & Early Club Ownership

An extraordinary piece of Toronto Maple Leafs and Canadian hockey history, this original 212-page shareholders ledger documents the ownership and share transactions of the Toronto Maple Leaf Hockey Club Ltd. beginning in 1927, during the formative years of one of hockey's most storied franchises.

The ledger provides a remarkable historical record of the individuals and financial interests involved in the club's early development, including some of the most influential figures in Toronto Maple Leafs history.

Among the notable individuals documented within its pages are Conn Smythe, J.P. Bickell, Frank J. Selke, Charles Conacher, Peter G. Campbell, W.L. Ross, John M. Massey, and C. Mackenzie King.

Of particular historical significance are the entries relating to Conn Smythe, who assumed control of the Toronto St. Patricks in 1927 and renamed the franchise the Toronto Maple Leafs. Under Smythe's leadership, the organization would become one of hockey's most celebrated franchises, with the opening of Maple Leaf Gardens in 1931 marking a defining moment in its history.

The ledger contains original handwritten and typewritten shareholder records, documenting stock certificates, share quantities, transfers, cancellations, and ownership balances. These records provide a rare glimpse into the financial structure and individuals associated with the club during a pivotal period in its history.

Accompanying the ledger is its original, heavily aged archival envelope, bearing the handwritten identification "Toronto Maple Leaf Hockey Club Shareholder's Ledgers to 1927." The envelope adds an important element of historical context to the collection.

A museum-calibre archival artifact, offering a rare opportunity to acquire an original record documenting the ownership and early development of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

For interested bidders, a google drive folder documenting all 212 pages of the ledger is available upon request.
