The 36-card C56 Imperial Tobacco set is among the most significant early Canadian hockey card issues, featuring many of the sport's leading pre-NHL players and clubs.

Russell was one of the era's leading scorers, while Hern was a pioneering professional goaltender. Also included are Nick Bawlf of Haileybury and Ed Decary of the Montreal Canadiens, identified on his card as the "Canadian Club."
