1909–1911 T206 Rube Marquard (Follow Through) – Polar Bear Back (E.G.D. Collection)

Scarce and highly collectible T206 White Border card featuring Hall of Fame pitcher Rube Marquard in the desirable “Follow Through” pose, issued during the height of baseball’s famed Deadball Era.

Produced between 1909 and 1911, the T206 tobacco card set is universally regarded as the most iconic baseball card issue ever created, featuring many of the sport’s earliest superstars and Hall of Fame legends. Distributed through numerous tobacco brands, the set remains the cornerstone of vintage baseball card collecting and continues to attract strong demand from advanced collectors worldwide.

Rube Marquard emerged as one of baseball’s premier left-handed pitchers during the early 20th century and played a key role for the New York Giants during their dominant National League years under legendary manager John McGraw. Best remembered for his remarkable 1912 season in which he won 26 consecutive games, Marquard finished his career with 201 victories and was later inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1971.

This example features the attractive “Follow Through” pitching pose against a vibrant yellow background, one of the more visually striking designs from the T206 series. The reverse displays a Polar Bear Scrap Tobacco advertising back, among the hobby’s most popular and recognizable tobacco advertisements. Polar Bear-backed examples remain highly collectible due to their distinctive tobacco-era history and strong appeal among T206 back collectors.

The card remains ungraded and presents with visible age-related wear consistent with surviving examples from this highly collected pre-war issue.
