Mickey Owen & Tommy Henrich Dual-Signed “Dropped Third Strike” 1941 World Series Framed Photograph – Legends of the Game COA (Greenshields Collection)

Historic framed display commemorating one of the most famous and controversial moments in World Series history — the infamous dropped third strike during Game 4 of the 1941 World Series between the New York Yankees and Brooklyn Dodgers. The sepia-toned photograph has been signed by both Brooklyn Dodgers catcher Mickey Owen and New York Yankees outfielder Tommy Henrich, the batter involved in the legendary play.

The display captures the dramatic sequence that altered the course of the series. With Brooklyn leading 4–3 in the bottom of the ninth inning and two outs, Owen failed to secure Henrich’s swinging third strike, allowing him to reach first base safely. The Yankees capitalized on the opportunity, rallying to score four runs before ultimately winning the game 7–4 and taking control of the series.

An engraved presentation plaque outlining the historical significance of the moment accompanies the display, which remains housed in an attractive wood-framed presentation. Both signatures are executed directly on the photograph and present well overall.

The combination of historical significance, dual-player connection, and strong visual presentation gives the piece excellent appeal for collectors of Yankees, Dodgers, World Series, and vintage baseball memorabilia.

Authentication & Provenance
Accompanied by a Legends of the Game Certificate of Authenticity.

The piece originates from the Greenshields Collection, a long-held private collection assembled over many years featuring a broad selection of autographed sports memorabilia and professional model equipment.

Condition
The display presents well overall with visible aging, surface wear, and some spotting/discoloration to the matting and interior consistent with age. The frame exhibits moderate handling and storage wear, while both signatures remain visible and well-presented overall. Please refer to photographs for complete condition details.
