1923 V100 Willard’s Chocolate Rogers Hornsby (E.G.D. Collection)

Rare and highly desirable 1923 Willard’s Chocolate card featuring Hall of Fame legend Rogers Hornsby, one of the greatest pure hitters in baseball history and among the toughest pre-war Canadian baseball issues to locate.

Produced by Willard’s Chocolate of Canada, this scarce early-1920s issue is renowned for its limited survival rate and fragile paper stock. Cards from the set are seldom encountered on the market, particularly featuring iconic Hall of Fame subjects such as Hornsby.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest right-handed hitters of all time, Rogers Hornsby was a two-time National League MVP and seven-time batting champion who finished his career with an extraordinary .358 lifetime batting average. His legendary offensive dominance during the 1920s cemented his status as one of baseball’s premier early superstars.

This example displays strong visual appeal for the issue, featuring an attractive sepia-toned batting pose and facsimile signature along the lower border. The card remains ungraded and presents with evident age-related wear consistent with the fragile nature of the issue and its century-old age.

Early Canadian regional baseball cards remain among the most sought-after segments of the vintage card market due to their rarity, historical significance, and limited surviving populations.

Authentication & Provenance
This card has not been submitted for third-party grading or authentication and is offered as an ungraded vintage baseball card.

This card originates from the E.G.D. Collection, a long-held private collection assembled over many years featuring vintage baseball cards, pre-war tobacco and regional issues, autographed sports memorabilia, and historically significant sports collectibles.

Condition
Ungraded. Presents with visible creasing, corner and edge wear, surface toning, and areas of back staining/discoloration consistent with age and the delicate construction of the issue. Despite the wear, the card retains strong overall eye appeal for a scarce pre-war Canadian Hall of Fame issue. Please refer to photographs for complete condition details.
