1909-11 T206 Ty Cobb Bat Off Shoulder - Polar Bear Back - PSA FR 1.5

Offered here is one of the cornerstone cards of the legendary T206 tobacco issue, featuring Ty Cobb in the "Bat Off Shoulder" pose, professionally graded PSA FR 1.5 and carrying the desirable Polar Bear tobacco advertising back.

Produced between 1909 and 1911, the T206 set is widely regarded as one of the most important issues in baseball card collecting. Cobb appears in four different poses within the set, with the Bat Off Shoulder portrait ranking among the classic early cardboard depictions of the Detroit Tigers legend.

One of baseball's first true superstars, Cobb won 12 American League batting titles and finished his career with a .366 batting average. He was part of the inaugural Baseball Hall of Fame class in 1936 and received more votes than any other player on the first ballot.

Adding to the appeal of this example is its Polar Bear advertising back, one of the more recognizable and sought-after tobacco backs found within the T206 issue. Despite the assigned grade, the card retains strong visual appeal, with Cobb's portrait, colours and central image presenting particularly well.

The combination of Cobb's iconic Bat Off Shoulder pose and the Polar Bear advertising back makes this a particularly desirable variation. According to PSA population figures, only 22 examples of this specific front-and-back combination have received the PSA FR 1.5 grade, with just 71 examples graded higher.
